Each year Calisthenics ACT selects it finest calisthenics participants from each age group and sends teams to the Australian National Calisthenics Competition. This competition is held annually in July and is hosted by different states, so that the competition moves around to different cities in Australia. If you are selected to be part of such a team you will have the honour of representing the ACT and compete against teams from each of the other states in Australia.
As a representative team member you will have to train hard and for longer than you are used to at club level. Your weekends will become devoted to rep team – or at least one day of them and there may be times when you will have to give up going to a friend’s party. However, what we can promise is that you will significantly increase your calisthenic skill level, you will become stronger and more flexible and have the opportunity to work with elite coaches from within the ACT and from Interstate. You also get to make friends with kids from other clubs. Many of our past participants still have those friends today and say that this is the best part of doing rep team. At the end of 6 months of training you get to go interstate for a week, stay with your team and compete at a most amazing competition and yes, you will get the opportunity to see some high level calisthenics when you are not competing yourself.
Candidates should come to the workshops and audition wearing a plain black leotard and with hair in a neat bun with fringe pinned back. Plain black shorts or leggings may be worn over the leotard. Club and previous Representative Team training uniform, tracksuits, etc. are not to be worn to the either the workshops or audition.
